Why Do I Keep Coming Back? It's YOU!

By: Teresa Loos-Tedrow | Co-Founder | Next Legacy Group

At the Grant Cardone Real Estate Summit this past weekend, I was asked a question I've heard more than once: "Why do you keep coming back?
I've attended more than 10 summits, typically four each year. And while much of the core message remains the same, I've realized that the value of attending goes far beyond what's presented on stage.
For me, it comes down to three things: the people, the opportunity to grow, and the responsibility to stay informed.
1. Real Estate Investor Relationships: It's YOU! The People.
Without question, the relationships I've built through these events are among the most valuable parts of attending.
Some people I've known for years. Others I just met this past weekend. Along the way, some have become close friends, trusted colleagues, and business partners.
There's something special about being surrounded by people who share a passion for real estate, entrepreneurship, and building something meaningful.
We exchange ideas, celebrate successes, share challenges, and learn from one another. Often, the most valuable conversations aren't happening on stage. They're happening in the hallways, over dinner, or between sessions.
Not every conversation needs to lead to a business opportunity. Sometimes, friendship, encouragement, and connecting with people who understand your journey are valuable enough.
Real estate is a relationship-driven business. The people we learn from, collaborate with, and build trust with can have a lasting influence on how we approach opportunities and make decisions.
Real estate brings us together, but relationships keep us connected.
2. The Message May Be the Same, But I'm Not.
One thing I've learned is that familiar information can mean something entirely different depending on where you are in your journey.
As we grow personally and professionally, our perspectives change. Something that didn't resonate six months ago might be exactly what we need to hear today.
My experiences have changed. I've faced new challenges, made different decisions, and gained knowledge that allows me to process familiar information in a completely new way.
This is especially important in multifamily real estate investing. Understanding an investment opportunity involves more than learning the basics. It requires continuously evaluating assumptions, understanding market conditions, and applying experience to new situations.
Sometimes, we're simply not ready to understand or apply something until we reach a different stage in life or business.
The message may not have changed, but I have.
3. Staying Current Helps Me Better Serve Others.
Real estate is constantly evolving. Interest rates, financing, market conditions, technology, and investment strategies all influence the decisions we make.
As a co-founder of Next Legacy Group, I take seriously the responsibility of staying informed.
Our goal isn't simply to find investment opportunities. It's to identify investments that make sense, thoughtfully manage risk, and create long-term value.
Staying connected with experienced investors, operators, and industry professionals helps us exchange knowledge, challenge assumptions, and make better-informed decisions.
For anyone considering passive real estate investing, the people behind an investment matter just as much as the property itself. Understanding who is responsible for sourcing, underwriting, managing, and communicating about an investment is an important part of evaluating an opportunity.
And those decisions affect more than our investors. They also affect the people who call our properties home.
The better informed we are, the better we can serve both our investors and our residents.
So, Will I Be Back? Absolutely!
I'll keep learning, building relationships, and bringing new perspectives back to Next Legacy Group.
But when someone asks what I look forward to most, my answer is simple.
It's YOU!
The familiar faces, new friendships, shared experiences, and conversations that continue long after the summit ends.
Some of the greatest returns on our investments aren't measured in dollars. They're measured in relationships.
And that's a return I'll gladly keep investing in.
See you at the next summit!
